An anklet can look perfect in a photograph and still spend most of its life in a drawer. Usually, the problem is not the outfit or the metal colour. It is fit: too tight when the ankle moves, too loose near a sandal strap, or fastened at a length that lets the beads slide onto the foot.
A delicate pyrite anklet should feel present without demanding attention. The right measurement helps the strand sit neatly, keeps the clasp from rotating constantly and gives faceted beads enough room to move without pressing into the skin.
First decide where you want it to sit
For most everyday looks, place the anklet around the narrower area just above the ankle bone. This position tends to stay clear of footwear and shows the strand cleanly below cropped trousers, a kurta set or a midi dress. If you prefer a lower drape, check that it does not touch the top edge of your sandal when you walk.
Measure the exact position where you intend to wear it. An ankle can differ noticeably just a few centimetres higher or lower, so a general shoe size is not useful.
How to measure your ankle at home
- Stand or sit with your foot flat and your ankle relaxed. Do not point the toes, because that changes the shape around the joint.
- Wrap a soft measuring tape around the chosen position. Keep it level with the floor and close to the skin without pulling tight.
- Note the circumference where the tape meets. If you do not have a soft tape, use a narrow strip of paper or non-stretch thread, mark the meeting point, then measure it against a ruler.
- Repeat the measurement once. A second reading catches a twisted tape or an accidental gap.
- Compare the result with the wearable length stated on the product page, including how much adjustment the extension chain provides.
Measure an old anklet only if you already like its fit.
How much ease should you add?
Your ankle measurement is the body measurement, not automatically the final anklet length. A close fit usually needs a small amount of extra room; a relaxed drape needs more. As a practical starting point, many people add roughly 0.5 to 1.5 cm, depending on bead size, ankle shape and preference. This is a comfort guide, not a universal sizing rule.
Small beads need less additional space than large, chunky beads. The Dhanashree Natural Pyrite Anklet uses a thin strand of small metallic gold-brass Pyrite beads with a silver-tone clasp and extension chain, so the look is intended to remain refined rather than bulky.
Use the one-finger fit check
After fastening, slide the tip of one finger gently beneath the strand. You should feel a little movement without having to force the finger through. Then flex the foot up and down and take several steps.
Watch for three signs. The beads should not leave deep pressure marks, the anklet should not fall over the ankle bone onto the foot, and the clasp should not be pulled to the final link under tension. Mild movement is normal; constant spinning usually means there is too much ease or the extension tail is unusually heavy.
Position the clasp and extension chain
Begin by fastening near the middle of the available adjustment range. This leaves room to move one link tighter or looser on days when the ankle feels slightly different. Position the clasp toward the inner or back side of the ankle, where it is less visually prominent, and let the small end charm hang freely.
Do not knot the extension chain or clip the clasp onto an unintended decorative opening. If the tail catches repeatedly on clothing or footwear, choose a slightly shorter setting rather than wrapping the chain around the strand.
Check the fit with your actual footwear
Try the anklet with the shoes you wear most often. Flat sandals, juttis and trainers contact different parts of the ankle. Walk indoors and check for repeated tapping against buckles or eyelets.

Care matters to comfort
Put the anklet on after moisturiser, perfume and body spray have dried. Remove it before bathing, swimming, workouts or sleeping. After wear, wipe the Pyrite beads and silver-tone components gently with a dry, soft cloth, then fasten the clasp before placing the piece flat in its own pouch. This reduces tangling around the extension chain.
Pyrite is traditionally associated with prosperity symbolism and personal intention, but an anklet cannot promise an outcome. Its everyday value comes from thoughtful design, material character and how naturally it fits your routine.
The best fit is the one you stop noticing
A well-fitted anklet does not pinch, drop onto the foot or compete with every step. Measure at the intended position, add modest ease, test the clasp setting with movement and check it beside real footwear.
